Lumineers are basically one type of porcelain veneers. Lumineers is a brand of ultra-thin porcelain developed by DenMat Lab at Den-Mat Holdings, LLC, a manufacturers of professional dental materials. Lumineers is thus an exclusive, trademark product of Den-Mat Holdings.
Clinical testing stated by DenMat Lab has proven that lumineers can lasts for over 20 years. However, practically porcelain veneers in general range between 5 to 15 years or more and the life span of a veneer depends on the amount of "wear and tear" the veneer is exposed to, how well you follow good oral hygiene practices, and your personal mouth-related habits.
In certain cases, lumineers may be done without the need for grinding down of the original tooth structure. For these cases, the lumineers procedure is a pain-free way to reshape and permanently whiten your teeth without post placement discomfort or sensitivity. Your dentist will do a first check to determine if lumineers without tooth preparation is suited for your case.
For cases requiring more major changes, lumineers without tooth preparation may not be suited for them. In such circumstances, if lumineers as a form of porcelain veneers is opted, then tooth preparation may be recommended to be done and the procedure follows a similiar process to that of having porcelain veneers procedure done.
The lumineers process takes about 2 visits to your dentist assuming no required re-adjustments in necessary. The first visit for impression taking and the second visit for the placement of lumineers.
There is however a wait time for the lumineers labwork to be delivered, thus the total treatment timings including the labwork wait time maybe about 2 weeks as lumineers in thailand need to be sent to an overseas lab to be made and re-delivered back into the country.
For cases whereby no tooth preparatoin has been done, the lumineers may be reversed because there’s no grinding down of healthy tooth structure in most cases. Your natural teeth are still intact and strong.
For cases whereby tooth preparation with lumineers are done, the procedure will not be reversible and if worn, a new set will be recommended.
Lumineers have been improving smiles for over 20 years. An alternative to porcelain veneers is the IPS Empress system porcelain veneers with an good established track record.
