Lumineers by Cerinate are ultra-thin all porcelain wafer pieces or ceramic veneers placed over the front teeth to change color shape of the teeth. It is approximately 0.2 mm and highly translucent therefore replicates the natural appearance of enamel.

Unlike traditional porcelain veneers, Lumineers are a brand of super-thin veneers requiring minimal or in certain cases no drilling of tooth structure. It is thus known for as being safe and painless ceramic veneer procedure. For selected cases without tooth preparation, treatment may be reversible. Lumineers Teeth vs IPS Empress Veneers

Genuine Lumineers wafers are sent to an overseas laboratory to be fabricated as they are a patented porcelain veneers from DenMat Lab. DenMat is one of the largest manufacturers of professional dental materials with over 30 years of establishment. Clinical testing has shown that Lumineers can last over 20 years*.

An alternative of ultra-thin veneers is IPS Empress by Ivoclar Vivadent. IPS Empress super-thin veneers can be fabricated in Thailand. Therefore, unlike lumineers, treatment timing is much quicker within a week instead of several weeks awaiting delivery from an overseas lab.

Procedure of Lumineers

  1. First evaluation and veneer tooth preparation (if required)
    • Records are taken and approved with the patient to determine the color, bite, length and shape of the veneer
    • An impression is taken to replicate your teeth
    • This model is sent to an overseas dental lab where the veneer is fabricated
  2. Fitting of veneers
    • On delivery, the ceramic veneers are fitted and cemented into place on the teeth
    • A check is done for any re-adjustments
  3. Care of the veneers
    • Brush and floss as recommended by your dentist or dental hygienist

Recovery Expectations

Lumineers are fitted on teeth instantly with little or no recovery expectation.

Postcare Instructions for Lumineers

Same regular and consistent home and professional dental care as with any ceramic veneers is required:

  1. Avoid chewing on or eating hard foods on the restorations
  2. Keep your veneers area clean to maintain tissue compatibility (the contour of the prosthesis must allow the surrounding tissue to conform to a natural, healthy position)
  3. Brush after eating and before bedtime around the veneers with a soft toothbrush, especially where the lamaintes meets the gum line.
  4. Floss at least once to twice a day. Use the proxy brush or floss threader to remove plaque under and around these areas to maintain good oral hygiene.
  5. Rinse with fluoride rinse before bed. Swish the fluoride rinse vigorously in your mouth for at least one minute. Do not swallow any of the rinse and do not eat or drink anything for 30 minutes
  6. Be careful about chewing toffees, gum, grainy rolls and tough food in this area
  7. See your dentist for regular professional check-ups and cleanings

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) on Lumineers

Lumineer is basically one brand of porcelain veneers developed by DenMat Lab at Den-Mat Holdings, LLC. Lumineers is thus an exclusive, trademark product of the company. For this reason, your Lumineers dental lab will need to be sent to an overseas laboratory and is not done in Thailand.

If you are opting for Lumineers, there will be an expected longer treatment timing on the waiting time for the return delivery. After delivery, if you would like any changes, it will need to be resent back to the overseas lab. You are able to consider our other super-thin veneer options constructed in Thailand that may be more economical and enables a short treatment time.

Clinical testing stated by DenMat Lab has proven that lumineers can lasts for over 20 years. However, in practically porcelain veneers generally lasts between 5 to 15 years. The life span of a your dental veneer depends on the amount of “wear and tear” it is exposed to,  how well you follow good oral hygiene practices, and your personal mouth-related habits.

No. In certain cases, lumineers may be done without the need for grinding down of the original tooth structure. The procedure is thus a pain-free way to reshape and permanently whiten your teeth without the discomfort. Your dentist will do a first check to determine if lumineers without tooth preparation is suited for your case.

For cases requiring more major changes, some or a minimal amount of tooth preparation may be required to obtain the expected desired result. The veneer treatment procedure will follows a similiar process to that of conventional dental veneers.

Most lumineers procedures takes just 2 visits assuming no adjustments in necessary. The first visit is for impression taking and the second visit for the placement of lumineers.

There will however be a wait time for the lumineers dental lab work to be delivered from overseas. The total treatment timings for lumineers maybe be about 2 weeks.

For cases whereby no tooth preparatoin has been done, lumineers may be reversed because there was no grinding down of healthy tooth structure. Your natural teeth are still intact and strong.

For cases whereby tooth preparation with lumineers are done, the procedure will not be reversible. If removed, a new set of veneers (porcelain, super-thin or composite veneers) will be required.

Lumineers have been used to improve smiles for over 20 years. An alternative to porcelain veneers is the IPS Empress system porcelain veneers that has a good established track record.
